Manuel Marin

Manuel Marin

Born in 1942, Manuel Marin was a leading Spanish artist who worked in the manner of Alexander Calder. At the age of 20, Marin moved to London to become Henry Moore’s assistant in making bronze sculptures.

A couple of years later, Marin decided to move to New York to work as an Art restorer in the Mallorca Brothers’ Gallery. It was in New York that Marin settled to open his own gallery – ‘The American Indian Art Gallery’ – with clients that included Andy Warhol, William Kooning, Jean Michael Basquiat, amongst others.

In 1969 Marin became interested in the possibilities of kinetic art creating many critically acclaimed mobiles and stabiles, which he exhibited internationally.
